In a Crisis
If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts and think that you might be unable to keep yourself safe, visit your nearest hospital emergency department or call 999.


Papyrus offer national support to young people up to 35 years of age who are feeling suicidal.


The Samaritans offer a confidential service so you can talk to someone 24-7.


Shout provides free, 24/7 crisis support across the UK to anyone experiencing a mental health crisis.

Cardiff University Support Services

Concerned about yourself or others.
The Student Intervention Team exist within Student Health and Wellbeing to support students to manage risk to themselves or others due to their mental health.

This may include, for example:

  • suicidal thoughts
  • self-harm
  • erratic behaviour
  • behaviour changes

To refer a student, or yourself, to this team for intervention and support please complete the referral form here.

We will respond to your query where possible within one day between 10:00 and 16:00 Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays) term time only.

If you submit a concern after 16:00 please note that this will not be attended to until the following weekday.

The Disclosure Response Team is a team of specialist university staff trained to respond to disclosures of violence and abuse.
We support students at Cardiff University affected by harassment, hate crime, sexual violence, relationship abuse, bullying and other forms of unacceptable behaviour.
